Baby Sleep Patterns – How To Help Your Baby Sleep

As the baby gets older, it might have hard time sleeping. Around eight to 12 months, there are many issues the baby is dealing with in everyday life that could affect his or her sleep pattern. Your child is sleeping less during the day, learning new skills and taking in everything they see in the world.
One of the changes going on in the child’s life could wean the baby off the bottle and breast milk. If you are trying to get your child off the bottle, give the baby its last feeding at night as a form of comfort. At this time many babies are also teething so this is a way to help with those issues. Teething is a painful, annoying problem. You might consider leaving a teething toy in the bed for when the baby wakes up for something to chew on.
There are different ways to handle your baby at night. Depending on who you ask, they are going to give you different advice. A newer trend is to let the baby cry when he or she wakes up in the middle of the night. This is difficult for both the parents and the child. The child is lonely and is looking for comfort and the parents have the hide themselves out of view while listening to their child cry. Other might tell you to go to your child right away and comfort them. There is no telling which is going to work for you. You have to decide what technique is going to work for your child.
Sleeping can be difficult for children just as it is for adults. If it’s too hot in your room, sometimes you can’t sleep. This is a problem for babies too. Make sure the temperature in the baby’s room is good. If it’s cool, make sure they have enough blankets. If the room gets too dry, keep a humidifier in the room for added comfort. If a child has mucous in his or her nose, the humidifier could help throughout the night, but also clear the child’s nose before putting him down.
If after doing all you can to make the room comfortable and your child still isn’t sleeping well, consider other physical ailments. The child could have an ear infection or coming down with a small cold. If teething is the issue, put a topical ointment on your baby’s gums to help him or her sleep through the night.
